At David’s, we cut down waiting times and preserve freshness by sending out your dishes as soon as they’re ready. Sharing and slurping is encouraged, but that doesn’t mean we don’t take our food seriously. Our staff are here to serve you, but feel free to help yourself to water or a little more of our addictive sauces! David’s offers a modern take on traditional family recipes to bring you flavorsome, home-style cuisine; so please, make yourself at home.
Our menu is inspired by cuisine from Zhouzhuang, a rural town in Shanghai situated on a river. We buy our produce locally from suppliers we trust to ensure we are always cooking with the freshest ingredients possible. The menu emphasises honest, homely food, usually reserved for Shanghai locals. Expect simple dishes full of flavour, seasoned with soy, sugar, ginger and sometimes whole chillies and cloves of garlic.
Try our signature plates, such as melt-in-the-mouth pork belly served with baby chat potatoes cooked in the wok; or simple and sweet soft shell river prawns that are traditionally eaten whole. Crowd pleasers include our range of dumplings, thick Shanghai noodles, and our DIY pork bun, while desserts such as black sticky rice filled with sweet, red bean paste and doused in osmanthus flower syrup are a refreshing alternative to more mainstream sweets.
